Motivation of the Week: Think Good of Others

Dear blog, I realised something coincidental and funny. It seems like my favourite blogging day is Tuesday! :) It's been awhile that I realised since October that I enjoy or always think or feel like blogging on a Tuesday. And today proves that Tuesday is definitely my blogging day. Maybe because Wednesday is usually a half day, lectures just till 1 pm then I have fun activities like the HUG event, gardening for Volunteering week and gym class and many more fun activities on Wednesday so maybe I feel more relaxed to blog on a Tuesday? I am not sure hehe So, less of an update from me in this post and aim to write more motivational. But if you fancy reading a quick update>> Well, today is the time of the month so I came home earlier than normal and decided to relax, eat fruits, have hot milk and then took a nap. I rarely take a nap in the day. I can confirm confidently that the number of times I take a nap in the day is less than 10, maybe even less than 5. Because I do not

Life Goals

Dear all, Here is the next post requested and since New Year is approaching, I thought this would be nice. Hope all of you are doing good, in good health and happy thoughts. I am listening to some zikir now on YouTube and had a complete rest and stay-at-home day. Yesterday I left to Westfield early morning for Boxing Day shopping and enjoyed it! Got a few new things and some gifts for some very special people. It is my fourth year now studying abroad in London, I can hardly believe how long it seems and fast it feels at the same time. Alhamdulillah I am so thankful to Allah for helping me and rewarding me with this golden experience. Every big achievement comes its sacrifice. I have been working very hard for these past few years and then enjoy the remaining days I have for holidays. I have had tough days, tearful moments (being a crybaby doesn't help but crying is like therapy for me as it relieves any negative thoughts for me- I cannot see someone cry painfully as I will im

Keeping Yourself Motivated

Dear readers, Thank you for voting in my recent poll, I have not been writing much but I have been keeping track of the poll votes:) Since I have posted some recent study tips, I decided to write on the next highest voted topic which is Keeping Motivated. Have you ever had a long to-do list but not felt like doing any of them? Have you got a submission due but sometimes not in the 'mood' or just not in the correct momentum? Did you ever feel bored of doing the same thing over and over again? Do you often need a tight deadline for you to work hard towards a submission because otherwise you do not have the drive?  To me, these are all signs that you are a normal person with normal feelings. However, these normal feelings should be overcome in order to achieve certain goals in your life whether they are educational or career goals or even smaller things at home like keeping tidy or managing grocery and laundry etc.  So how do I keep motivated? Trust me, when I have repet

Motivating Yourself When Life or Studying Feels Difficult

Image
REPOST from 4 NOVEMBER 2016 Dear all,  I am writing this especially for SPM students who are having SPM this Wednesday. But I didn't want to put SPM tips for my blog title because this motivation is for everybody, regardless whether you are sitting for an exam next week or not. First, I want you to think back at the time life felt challenging. Think of what you did, how you dealt with it. Next think of your wonderful achievements. Helping someone in need is also considered a big achievement in my opinion. Finally, think of somebody else's life challenges. Something much worse than yours, a tragic death, war, illness and natural disasters. Your mind will automatically tell you that your problem seems trivial. In the case you are experiencing one of the worse, please bear in mind that God will not test you with something you cannot cope. Before I go further, let me tell you a story about myself.  This weekend was one of the most challenging for me. I am sick and I have a lot

SPM Tips: Don't Let a Hard Paper Demotivate You

Image
REPOST FROM 7 November 2013 Dear SPM students, I'm very glad to hear your response because I would have no idea that BM paper was hard if you guys (Lyana)  didn't tell me. First thing I want to say is that if I was in your position, I would be VERY thankful to get a difficult paper. yes, in exam halls you feel that you want to answer ALL questions accurately. When something makes you feel stuck, you have doubts and start to worry. My advice is that: Please just continue answering how your teacher, tuition centre, penceramah, anyone who has taught you. Just follow and continue answering the question no matter how hard it is. DONT STOP or WORRY. Be confident. Say in your mind " I have studied so I can definitely answer (insyaAllah) because if someone who studies can't answer, then how about the rest of the candidates?" Of course they can't make everybody fail. Certain people must get an A, and did you know if the average highest mark is 40% in the entire cou

Motivation of the Week- Being Kind to Yourself

Dear all, Greetings from London. Today marks exactly 4 weeks since I returned and I am so thankful for all the things I have done and accomplished within these 28 days. Alhamdulillah I know SPM is around the corner and thought of dropping a few motivation words for all of you. This is applicable to anyone who is approaching exam season or generally anything that challenges you at this point in time. Once again, motivation if not a one-off thing, you need it constantly for your soul just how you need food. If you are always problem-free with no motivation needed at all, then there may be an issue and worth looking into. Yes, it could be that point in life when all is going well and you are on cloud nine (weeeeee) and that is perfectly fine. What is also ok is if suddenly things change and things do not go as planned or if you have to deal with something that you dislike. I mean nobody likes to be in that sort of situation. Its frustrating, disappointing, upsetting and all th

Dealing With Changes in Life

Image
THIS IS A REPOST, ORIGINAL BLOG POST WRITTEN ON AUG 27 2012 Dear all, this topic touches my heart deeply as there are so many changes in my life right now. I feel like suddenly my world  moved by 45 degrees (this is enough as I don't think its more than this) creating a relatively new environment in many ways. You will not completely understand what I mean. It feels tiring, complicated, confusing but when I look at it positively, its definitely a fresh start. Before you start reading, please turn on this song for better effects. When you are used to something in life and reached your comfort zone, its hard to believe that it can suddenly change. When you come to think of it, some people face harder situations. Always remember that. When you have been living around people you love, suddenly God decides to shake your globe a little and let new snowflakes fall. In a single week, there has been so many changes and so many people coming and going. Yes, I know that death takes

A Song That Resonates With Me

Image
Its Wednesday, 4th day since I reached London and I was having a relaxing morning, posting photos and making calls and buying some things online. Preparing stuff before I start getting busy very soon. This song came up in my mind and I started to humm it, decided to search on youtube and I played it over and over again. Never really realised the lyrics but when I searched for it, I realised that 80% of the lyrics resonate with me. Play the song! Inspiring music :) PS: My <3 called few minutes after and he had to listen to me singing this song hehehe Have a great day.

People in Your Life

Image
Good morning everyone I was googling some interesting motivation topics to write this morning and this one caught me instantly. I believe all of us can relate to this because we are surrounded by people. People you love, people you like, people you are comfortable being around, maybe people you dislike or people you have to connect with because of circumstances and the list goes on.  Before I start writing I would like to share some of these quotes I found on wiseoldsayings.com: "Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down."  Oprah Winfrey "The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, suffering, struggle, loss and have found their way out of those depths."  Elisabeth Kubler-Ross "I've learned that people may forget what you said and what you did but people will not forget how you made them feel."  Maya Angelou

Forgiving People

Image
Dear all, Today I was thinking of writing a motivational article and thought of something that might be useful or relatable to many people and that is 'Forgiveness'. This topic is linked to the relationship with people and all of us encounter people in our daily lives, its inevitable. You meet family, friends, colleagues, shopkeepers, your boss or teacher or even simply a passerby who you have never known or met before. Upon interaction with other people, there is a tendency or likelihood to be hurt at any point of your life. It could be by someone you barely even know or somebody close whom you trust. In either situation, both would be hurtful and depending on the situation, could affect you in one way or another, physically or emotionally.  It is near impossible to change people. Sometimes you wonder why do they say that, why did they do this, why didn't they do that or why me or what did I do wrong or why does it always have to happen again or do they not underst

How To Make The Best of University Life

Dear readers, Hope all of you are doing great and having a positive week so far :) A few weeks ago, I received a request, asking for me to write a post on surviving university life. While I was thinking for a suitable blog topic, this came up and I thought it would give a more positive impression on university life as opposed to the word 'surviving'. The truth is many of us are trying to survive university life. It is a challenge, no joke. To me, it is much much different to school life and one of the main reasons is because I am now in a different country. In the midst of trying to survive, I discovered many new things, new friends, new perspectives, new talents, new hobbies and many new things in life that I never did before. I always pray that it changes me for the better, rather than the opposite. One physical change is that I started to wear the hijab after my first year in the UK, a confident decision that I did not manage to do before.  Making the best of universit
