Mental Preparation on the Day to Face Exam Results
In response to:
fazlinaZahran: salam, hey sis, spm result is coming soon! Please write about the day to face the result. Maybe some tips will be helpful. Thx
Dear SPM students, STPM students and all of you who are about to receive your exam results.
A few months ago I was busy giving you all tips and responding to questions and now The Day of Truth is about to arrive. Some people debate on whether exam day or result day is more nerve-wrecking? What do you think? Are you more afraid sitting for exams or getting the results. I would say that both has its own kind of fear. Sitting for exams is fear of not being able to answer while result day is fear of disappointment of not meeting expected grades.
Whatever it is, I do not want any of you to feel scared, afraid, disappointed, or any other negative feelings. Remember that you have tried your best and that's the most important thing. You have given your all and you have tried and put in a lot of effort in preparing for your exam. So now it all lies in the hands of Allah. Believe in God and rely on Him to grant your prayers.
Some things are not within our power. Studying and hard work is something that is indeed within our power while examining and interpreting our answers is not within our power. Some people may have had a lenient examiner and some students may have had a strict one. Yes there are grade boundaries but there is always slight human error when examining exam papers so relax and think positively.
You must not live up to people's expectations. That's one thing I want you to keep in mind. Let people say or do whatever they want to do but you need to have confidence in yourself and believe in whatever you are doing. Sometimes I agree that it is the stress and pressure that people put on us that makes result day more petrifying. When you have smart friends, you tend to compare and ask each other. Having results less than your friends will make you feel inferior. Those are all normal feelings that make you human. But learning and knowing how to deal with those feelings positively makes you an amazing person :) And yes you're hearing this straight from LittleMissMeen so cheer up!
Yes, I agree that not everybody is blessed with an intelligent brain or incredible memory. Some people have a higher advantage and better genes. Its ok. Everybody is special and good in their own way. Don't let harsh words hurt you or affect you mentally. Only you can decide whether to accept things that people say about you. You know yourself the best and your capability may be extraordinary. You need to take time and discover your potentials.
If you're reading this on the night of exam, please remember that whatever God decides to give you tomorrow, you will accept it with an open heart. You will be happy and thank Him for granting you such results. If it is better than you expected, then remember to be humble and thankful. Good things can be taken anytime if you are not thankful. If it is less than you expected, then sit down and think back on what you did wrong. Was it lack of effort? Try to discover it so that you can improve yourself next time. Now please don't cry or be upset. Just think and decide on where you can go from here and what you can do next. I always and forever believe that when there's a will, there's a way. If you are really desperately looking for something, God will grant your wish, if not completely everything but at least part of it.
Now is the time to pray for the best and read motivation words of success. Read motivation books and refrain from talking about exam results too much with your friends because your mind will start to wander and think of the worst possibility. Just relax, take it easy and spend time to yourself. Keep yourself busy and on the day before results, I like to go for fun and exciting outings. Last week I went ice-skating and shopping on the day before results to ease my mind and keep myself busy with other things hehe. I just got my results too and will be blogging about it soon ;)
After reading this, promise that you will not say any negative words to make you feel discouraged. You deserve to be appreciated, if not by people by you, yourself.
Thank you for reading and I wish you the very very best of luck to all my readers especially SPM students who have stayed with me this entire time. Now that you've gotten results, don't forget to keep in touch in the future. I hope that my words inspire you and may success be with you in this world and in the hereafter. Take care!
