Girl Suspended From School For A Week For Wearing Mini Skirt
Dress code issues. Have you ever faced a similar situation? When you're in school, its a serious matter especially in government schools.
A few days ago, a girl from a Methodist School in Malacca was suspended for wearing a mini skirt to a charity event representing her school. News stated that clear dress code regulations were provided but the accused failed to follow rules and regulations set by the school.
When you are in an institution, ANY institution even at work place, you have to follow the rules set by your boss or the authorities. Can you go to an interview wearing a bikini with the reason "Oh I just feel too hot today." Your interviewers will blacklist you immediately without further explanation. What I'm trying to say is that in every place, there are things you need to consider rationally before making a decision out of pure ego.
Now back to the topic above, in my opinion what she did was not a serious 'I-will-suspend-you-from-school' offence but as a student, she has to show some respect to the school by at least acknowledging the dress code they have set. Besides, she's Chinese and the Principal is also Chinese so this is not a religious issue. If a miniskirt is what you usually wear, then you can wear it anytime and anywhere. Why decide to go against the rules and wear it to somewhere you're not supposed to. No one is stopping you from even sleeping in a miniskirt. Just saying.
When you do something wrong, you should be able to bear the consequences. Why cry when they point out your mistake? I sympathise her but I guess she called for it.
However, the Principal could have been more lenient on this issue and not suspend her for a week because it has nothing to do with missing classes. The best conclusion is that the Principal wanted to punish her but was left with no other option except that.
In this world, many things happen but we need to learn to look at it from a dynamic point of view and not just blame one party.
Let' put aside trivial issues like this and prevent it from being a barrier to success.
