Ever Felt Hard Choosing A Career Path
When we're in school the most things we'll ever think about are: doing homework, completing assignments or perhaps going for a tournament and maybe giving a speech or two.
When the bell rings marking the last of day of high school, another bells rings too - marking the beginning of a career path.
Why is it so hard to decide? Why are there so many options yet so little choice? How come it feels so difficult to make a decision? Guys, I'm more than honoured to declare that you are perfectly normal. Every teen, stepping into adulthood will face this phase of life where you ought to make a decision for your future. As easy as it sounds, you may be surprised at how much hassle you'll be facing once you face the situation of "deciding."
So many factors need to be considered. So many people to gain approval from. So much serious talking. Yet you didn't see this coming and never expected it to be this hard.
I hate to say this, but some people just choose a career path because they think it sounds "professional" or it makes them sound "smart". However, what they fail to realise is that forcing yourself to do something that you're not good at and have not much interest is actually another way of "carving your own tombstone." You will suffer and you will face the ultimate consequences.
Yes, who says its easy to know what you will enjoy doing in the next 30 years? Making decisions are full of risks but taking the risk is the only way to gain its benefits too.
Parents do play a role at this point. They seem to have their own plans for you. Nevertheless, you know your own potential and your own interest so if it contradicts with what your parents want you to do, the best way to deal with it is to politely decline and discuss with them on whats best. Sometimes what they choose for you may be the best. Sometimes, not.
A good way to do this is by talking to someone who is experienced, usually those older than you who have faced a similar situation. You don't have to be blinded by too much ego and ASK because life gets fun as you learn from people.
Make a pros and cons list so you see it clearly and not just jumble everything in your head.
Don't stress out too much and always always remember this. Its not what you do, its more to how you do it.
You can be a regular person doing a regular job but because you work hard and show great performance in what you do, you may end up better than someone who started off with a "posh" career.
To me, all this " I am better than you" is plain childish. Some people are just giving superficial remarks like repeating some statement they probably got on the radio. Giving your comments about something you have lack of knowledge about shows how immature you really are.
Once you have decided on doing something, go for it. There may be thorns and mines on the way there but they are anywhere so why worry?
In a nutshell, if you ever felt difficult facing the future, bear in mind that you are not alone. Millions of people out there are facing the same situation. It is just a matter of time and mind. :) Smile and the world is yours. *omg this sounds cliched ain't it" Oh well can't think of a better ending. All the best!
