End of 2017 Updates from Miss Meen

Dear all, Thank you for visiting my blog, I hope all of you are doing great. In this blog post, I am going to share a few updates on my life and wrap up 2017 in this post. 2017 has been an eventful year and I am so thankful for everything in my life. Today I received a very special email from one of my faithful readers. I woke up in the morning, had breakfast and checked my email littlemissmeencollections@gmail.com and her email cheered up my morning. I like long emails or messages because I generally engage more in deep conversations compared to on the surface convos. To anyone thinking of emailing me, all your emails and real names remain private and confidential unless you give me permission to share. I may rephrase the content of your email to write a blog post that may benefit anyone who may experience the same situation but will not mention your name. For this recent email I received, I really like it that she has her full name and also an online name. I like i

Tips on Starting a Blog

Image
Dear all, Thank you for visiting :) Happy weekend and hope you are having a nice Saturday so far. It's holiday seasons and I am sure many of you are off on exciting holidays or spending family time. Whatever it is, stay safe and have a good time :) It's Saturday morning for me and so far a relaxing morning for me. I had a cup of 'teh tarik' (popular milk tea in Malaysia) and also jasmine green tea. I like tea, I can have endless cups of tea all day. I was thinking about what topic to blog today and there are so many topics I did not know which one to choose. So, I opened this little notepad I have on my phone where I write down any blog topics I think of at any time of the day so that I can refer to that list when I decide to sit down and blog. So the topic I have chosen today is useful for anyone out there thinking to start a blog or website. Here are some things that you need to bear in mind: Choose your blogging platform carefully. Are you more comfortab

What to Know Before Helping Out the Homeless

Image
It's Christmas season and as any festive season, it is a time for giving and sharing the love. It is that time of the year when people feel extra generous and in good spirits. While we are planning our Christmas and holiday plans, it is also important that all of us remember those who are less fortunate and in need. We might be planning a great dinner on Christmas Eve but there are people out there who are starving and would be grateful for even a piece of bread. Or there are people who are shivering at night while we enjoy the luxury of having a heater or fireplace. It is a life I cannot imagine. When I attend presentations on helping the homeless if there is one message I would like to emphasise, it would be that being homeless is NOT a choice for most of them. Life circumstances are what brought them out there. It could be their negative attitude or behaviour that drove them out of the house. Or bankruptcy or being cheated or they suffered mental illness or they are LGBT who a

How to Succeed in University

Image
If you read my previous blog articles, you would realise that most of my education articles are related to high school studies. Now that I have graduated from university, I feel that I can now share study tips at university.  A little background on what and where I studied. I started my degree in 2013 at Imperial College London and I studied Earth Science (Geology, Geophysics and Geochemistry). Before that, I did an A-level in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Math in HELP University, Malaysia. I did not have much Geology background before starting my degree but that was fine as many people did not too. I did a 4-year programme including a 1-year integrated Masters programme and graduated in October 2017, just 2 months ago.  Here are some study tips I found useful for myself when studying at university, hope you find this beneficial for you:) As always, let me know if you have any questions. I am more than happy to help. Studying at university is very different compared to

Coping With Losing a Pet

If you have just lost a pet, either it disappeared or passed away, I feel your pain. I have lost a pet before and today someone very close to me lost his pet. When you are in this position, it is really tough especially if you are close to your pet. Grieve all you want and cry if you need to. It is understandable. When people who do not have pets hear about the loss of a pet, they usually do not understand the pain as much. I was like that too until I had pets, then, I understood. If you have a special bond with that pet, it is even harder. This pet is not directly mine but I play with it regularly. It is pretty new, we got it just less than a month ago. It recently learned new tricks and become really interactive with us and suddenly it disappeared. Nobody realised that the door was left slightly open. And that is how it disappeared. We are not sure if it is gone completely,  but we will attempt to find it.  Here I will share some ways when coping with losing a pet. Hopefully, you w

How to Look Good with Less Makeup

Image
How to Look Good with Less Makeup Makeup is becoming the trending thing nowadays and it has become so popular that more and more tutorials, make-up products, make-up artists and make-up kits available anywhere and everywhere. I have got two confessions to make.  1. 2017 is actually the first year I've owned my own mascara. It was a birthday gift from Body Shop as I am a member. Actually, they gave me a cash voucher and I chose mascara.  2. Christmas 2016 is the first time ever I bought lipstick. I usually prefer the Nivea Fruity Shiney Cherry lip balm but while Boxing Day shopping with my friend, I was trying out the lipsticks and fell in love with some of them. I bought a Maxx Factor orange tint, I happen to like seeing myself in orange lipstick and my friend told me it suits me well, yaay.  Even with these two additional things in my makeup bag, I only wear it once in awhile. Of course, I feel all of us generally look better with makeup but I feel that it is not necess
