Holiday At Cameron Highlands

This is one of those random trips where you plan at the last minute and suddenly you're there! Its been awhile since I went for a trip anywhere and my first time going to Cameron Highlands too. I always hoped to go here as I heard many delightful remarks on how peaceful and tranquil the place makes you feel and now that I've gone there, I have to agree. Before I went there, I imagined it to be a small place, hilly and strawberries here and there. I realised that its actually a big town with lots of people who actually lived there for generations.

The First Day
My parents didn't want to drive there as we were unfamiliar with the road and all so we got Mr Sam to take us there and fetch us back. We left home at
930am, stopped at Tapah R&R at 1pm and reached the hotel around 230pm. We stayed at Century Pine Resort. The first thing i saw when I entered was the remarkable chandelier above me, sparkling with beauty. We checked in and got 2 rooms; 1 for my parents and baby brother. Another for my sister, my maid and me. My maid helped us unpack and as soon as we settled down and checked out the hotel facilities, we went for a stroll down the park and walked across the bridge towards the shops and the restaurants nearby. Right there, we met Mr Selvam who came our tour guide and drove us around Cameron Highlands the whole journey. The taxi rate there is RM25 per hour so they can take you around where ever you want to go and at the end of the day, you pay based on the hours you've spent.

Mr Selvam was a very friendly guy and talked a lot about his family and how his father used to work in the tea plantation. He originated from India but he spoke Malay and English quite well. So many native people living there. We saw them on our way uphill. First, he took us to the Bharat Tea Plantation. The place was breathtaking- the lush greenery took my breath away. You know my favourite color is green right so imagine how beautiful the was for me.... The tea leaves were my favourite shade of green. After walking halfway down the valley and taking some pictures, we decided to go back up. I wasn't even wearing proper shoes- one of the times i regret wearing heels- so we went up and had tea. The tea there was so expensive. One cup was RM5.50 and it was the small-sized mugs. However the tea is worth every dime you pay; Honey lemon tea and mint tea were the two flavours we chose. Both equally scrumptious.

Right after that, he took us to the Strawberry Park where we could pick strawberries. OMG! Did i forget to mention- every single thing in Cameron Highlands has something to do with strawberries! You see it everywhere you turn-left, right, front, back, up, down. It was almost dark so he dropped us at a restaurant near our hotel for dinner. Right after dinner, I went for a back massage -  RM45 for 45 minutes. I haven't had one of those in like 1 month so that was such a relief. The Chinese lady who massaged me told me about the town and suggested a few places we could go the next day. She also reminded me to be careful whenever I go to massage parlours because some offered "other services". I realised that people here were pretty friendly :)
At night, i had trouble sleeping. I imagined things at the forest outside the window and it took me hours after midnight before i fell asleep.

Second Day
Mr Selvam picked us up at the hotel after breakfast. We had the buffet-included in the hotel package and right after that we went to visit the Boh Factory. We saw how the tea leaves were processed and stopped by for somemore tea. The tea was ordinary, not like yesterday's. It was pretty chilly there and I saw the Manager's Bungalow from far. A beautiful cottage designed by himself. Then we visited the Butterfly Park, Rose Garden and Bee Farm. We went to another Strawberry Park and I tried the muffins there. Next, we stopped for lunch at a Malay restaurant. Mr Selvam sent us back to the hotel at 3pm and I slept till 530pm. He arrived at 6pm to take us to the night market- a tourists' attraction. We bought so many things here. The veggie and fruits were cheap. Something special i bought there was a heart necklace. On its pendant, I carved my name on the front and LittleMissMeen at the back.
That's how much I love my blog *hehe

The weirdest thing happened when we reached the market. We saw this hippie with a colorful outfit holding an SLR and sitting by the roadside. When we got out of the taxi, he started snapping our photos like directly focused at my sister and I. *awkward moment- i hear the frogs ribbit*
After 2 hours of shopping, we returned to the hotel then my maid and I went downstairs to relax by the fountain. The Internet connection was not very easy there.

Last Day

My brother anticipated a football match ever since my mum told him there was a football field near our hotel. He even brought his soccer ball along and divided us into 2 teams; mum, dad, brother versus me, sister, maid. We were literally forced to play along but we pitied him because he was so enthusiastic about the game. I became the goalkeeper and unfortunately i don't know how I let 13 goals passby me. The final score 13-1. *embarrasing moment* My dad said I played like a handicap and my brother said I looked like I was catching chickens. Enjoy humiliating me? *ahem ahem* Haha On my back to the hotel, I saw Mr Sam. He reached Pahang already from KL- he was so early. So i went up packed my stuff and moved into the van. We took a final photo and left.

On our way home, we dropped by for the Bharat Tea we had on the first day. Then we went for lunch in Perak and finally we dropped by Bukit Tinggi. I fed the rabbits and watched the swans. Erfan and my maid had an artist drew a portrait picture of them. There's nothing much in Bukit Tinggi except the French-style buildings and restaurants. On our way back, it was dark and Mr Sam had to drive through Karak highway! Omg i heard its haunted.  I can't believe we passed the place at night.
After 9 hours on the road since we left the hotel, we finally reached another hill and that hill belonged to my home :)

Cameron Highlands is definitely the right place for nature lovers and those seeking for a romantic getaway with your loved one :) If i were given a chance, I would definitely go here again!
