How to Be Confident Yet Humble

I'm reading this book called 'The Success Factor'. I got it from the Popular bookstore. It's a 2-in-1 with 'The Confidence Factor' book. I like these self-help books. I just had dinner, simple dinner I make when I am by myself. I played the songs on my playlist like 'Silence', 'Friends' and 'All Falls Down'. I like most of the songs on hitz.fm and mix.fm. Last weekend, my mum and brother came to visit me. Next weekend, I'll be on another flight (just a few more days). I am literally on a plane so often these days. The most important part of all of this is that I am happy where I am now and I like the new job. I really did not like the idea of being transferred here at the beginning. Also, because I was not sure where I was going to stay. I figured things out all at the last minute. I was not too sure if I would like this new place but given some time, I am starting to be really fond of it. I remember driving home and my car stereo was

Understanding People: Everyone is Going Through Their Own Battle

Dear all, Today I really want to write something motivational. Something that hopefully is worth your visit here and that can make you finish reading feeling better than you did before you started reading. OK that's is probably mission impossible but I'll try. I would update you with my life updates but enough about me. I am on social media frequent enough to update my life. Here, right now, I want it to be about you. And how I can help you with my writing. While I was thinking of what to write, I came up with a simple topic that most people can relate to. It is about understanding other people. Once again, that seems mission impossible. Each person on this planet is different. There are no two people who are alike. You see, even our thumbprint is different. This is a clear sign that God wanted to make each of us distinct and unique in our own way. There can be similarities and people who share the same thoughts as you but nobody in the world will be the same as you ent

Starting Work for the First Time

Dear all, Hope everyone is doing great! This is my first post since I started my first job. After a long break I needed so much, I am now refueled and more motivated to start this new chapter of working life. I moved to an island-sort-of. It is connected to land but very near the coastal region. The only means of going home from here is by flying. This means that I will be on the aeroplane pretty often from now on. This is really the job I wanted. It is related to what I studied and so happy and thankful for this job opportunity. It is better than I expected. I had so many mixed feelings about it at first and now that I am more settled, I am so grateful that it turned out better than expected. Any transition will always require time for us to figure things out and get things properly sorted. The uncertainty of many things is very high when you first move to a new place. Nevertheless, I told myself. You are young, this is your first job opportunity, go out there and fly. Seek new

Meen's Life Updates: March 2018

Image
Dear all, happy March! Can you believe it? We are almost a quarter-way through the year of 2018. Today I had piano class. This morning I woke up extra early and cycled at 730am. I do not usually wake up this early but I slept at 1030pm last night, hence the early morning. I was super exhausted yesterday. My brother was playing badminton at Interzone level from Monday to Thursday and most days, it started at 8am so we left home by 730am. Also, I felt a little ill on Wednesday and so thankful I feel much better today. He won second place in doubles game and received a medal, certificate and a badminton bag gift for his achievement. Now he will play at a higher level and I am so happy for him. I am a family-oriented person so being home and being able to participate in my family members activities is something that makes me happy. This week, there are 3 important birthdays. First, my dearest grandmother, my lovely sister and my best friend from high school. All 3 in a week. We had a

How to Choose the Right Career

This post is mainly for anyone out there who is thinking of their career path, confused about the future, just graduated from high school or college and thinking what to do next or anyone who already has a job but thinking to reconsider their career options. Some people know with full certainty what they want to do but most people are not sure and it is OK to be unsure. There are so many career options out there so take it slow, do lots of research, identify what you enjoy and just go for it. Do not overthink once you have decided and enjoy the ride! Here are a few steps which I applied after my SPM (equivalent to O Levels) to decide what I wanted to study. As I studied, I reconsidered these steps again to identify the most suitable career for myself. Each and every person is different, you cannot compare like to like. For me, even among my siblings we all have different interests but the differences add the colour and fun especially during a mealtime when we all share our latest

What Every Sensitive Person Needs to Know

Image
Dear all, I hope everyone is doing great :) It's been a long weekend for the Chinese New Year here in Kuala Lumpur and I am enjoying these endless holidays :) Today I would like to write a motivational topic that probably many of you can relate. I read an article recently that 1 in 5 people are highly sensitive compared to others. Also, recently as I am getting older, I realised that people are getting more and more easily offended. If you are offended by someone or something, then continue reading, this blogpost is for you. Chances are all of us have experienced an offensive situation, be it a shopkeeper, a family member, a friend, a distant relative, a colleague or a random person you don't know. Something to realise in this situation is that each person has a different reaction to offensive situations and people have different levels of sensitivity. Being a pretty sensitive person myself, I try myself to be careful with what I say or do to avoid offending others. Even th

Difference Between Living in London and Kuala Lumpur

Image
After 4 years of living and studying in London from 2013, I returned to Kuala Lumpur at the end of 2017. Moving to a different city after a long time can be exhausting with all the packing but also exciting. It gives you that adrenaline rush of the unknown adventure. Now that I have been staying in Kuala Lumpur for some time, I can now pick out the clear differences between the two cities. Both Kuala Lumpur and London are the capital cities of Malaysia and United Kingdom respectively. Thus, there are some similarities in terms of living a city life. However, they are on the opposite sides of the world so a huge difference in lifestyle is expected. Here I will share with you the differences and similarities that I have picked out. Enjoy reading :) Food Food is the most distinct difference when comparing the two cities. Asian food is known for the rich flavour and for the variety. Asian people think that food in West is very plain and always the same thing. This is a very per
